What is a Christian?

Lots of people believe in God and even in Jesus, but are not Christians – Jews, Muslims, Hindus and even the devil.  Demonic spirits recognised Jesus for who he was, Luke 4:33.  A real Christian is someone who has responded to the message of the Gospel (Gospel means Good News) 

“For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life” John 3:16.  

“Very rarely will anyone die for a righteous man, though for a good man someone might possibly dare to die.  But God demonstrates his own love for us in this, while we were still sinners, Christ died for us” Romans 5:7-8

“I am the way, the truth and the life. No-one comes to the Father except through me” John 14:6 . The Bible teaches that we cannot be saved by our own good works. You have nothing to offer to God except your choice to submit to his grace.  Grace is the favour God gives us that we do not deserve. Have you responded yet?

Accept the fact that you are a sinner.  Romans 3:23 says “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”   Romans 10:9-10 reads, “If you confess with your mouth Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead you will be saved.  For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved.”

by coming to God, just as you are. Ask the Lord Jesus Christ to come into your life.  God will come in and forgive you, it will be as if your sin had never happened. He will wipe your slate clean, giving you a fresh start!  Romans 10:13 “For everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”  Salvation is promised to anyone who will believe. John’s Gospel 3:16 tells us that whoever believes in him will not perish but have everlasting life.
